The system being utilized is secure and follows Federal guidelines for HIPAA confidentiality standards. Sessions may be Individual (one to one) or Family (client and parent or sibling).
  • In-office Therapy, Traditional-in person:  is not currently available. This is expected to resume when COVID-19 concerns have been resolved. Sessions may be Individual (one to one) or Family (client and parent or sibling).
  • Personal Growth Workshops:   not currently available. This is expected to resume when COVID-19 concerns have been resolved. Topics vary according to seasonal needs. Join scheduled workshops with like-minded individuals to learn more about using mindfulness, meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and other stress relieving strategies and personal growth ideas to reach higher levels of self actualization.  Workshop participation involves a group setting.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): is an effective form of therapy that is evidenced-based and widely used to treat many mental health issues such as Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar,  Anger Management, Conduct/Behavioral Disorders, ADHD, and more. It is based on the premise that our thoughts are linked to our feelings and thus influence our behaviors and actions.
  • Trauma-Focused CBT: is a form of therapy that originated as CBT, but is specifically aimed at treating traumas. Some traumas is is used are may be Sexual Abuse, Victims of Violence, Unresolved Grief, and many other possible traumas. This involves "telling your story" and processing it thoroughly with your therapist. It ends with full disclosure to parents. Clients must be screened by therapist to determine if they are able to receive this treatment.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR):  this therapy is now internationally recognized as an empirically supported treatment for trauma. It is used to (1) help the client learn from the negative experiences of the past, (2) desensitize present triggers that are inappropriately distressing, and (3) incorporate templates for appropriate future action that allow the client to excel individually and within his/her personal system. In short, it uses eye movements or tapping on hands to help client process past traumas and adapt new thoughts to improve self. This treatment is also known to work relatively faster than many other types and does not require "telling your whole story." This is used for any type of trauma and is very specialized treatment. Clients must be screened by therapist to determine if they are able to receive this treatment.

Parenting skills and tips are another area that Lory has been addressing in her practice. There are times when one may wish kids came with an instruction manual, and what works for one child, may not work for another child. Working with young minds can be challenging, even for those "trained" to do so.  Parents, please know that as long as you don't give up on your child, there is hope. There is hope because help is available.
